NEOM, how the up-to-date urbanism can look if invest a lot

Personally, I like the concept of Saudi future city THE LINE that will be built as a part of NEOM project for 9mln inhabitants.

The idea is to strengthen the whole town in a line 170km length, starting from Red sea shore into depth of the desert, and only 200m wide. The line will be based of circled clusters — districts, of close to round shape. It ensures that each inhabitant is close to everything they need, without necessity to pass long distance.

For moving along the line (as far as I understand) the underground high pace transport will be used (i.e. vacuum trains).

It also ensures the sustainability, while you don’t need to run large surfaces to build something. What I am concerned in our cities is high density of life in each district around important landmarks like metro stations, and lack of free space.

But certainly, the project is good more for countries with low population and big territory, like the KSA (16 people per Km2)
